Re: [EURO-Discuss] EURO-Discuss Digest, Vol 51, Issue 13
Dear all, Thank you very much for extremely useful discussion of EURALO by-laws - we will discuss them in Ukraine with other ISOC Ukraine chapter activists. I would be happy to participate in EURALO Geo Regions WG, and I am ready to present not only Ukrainian Internet community, bit both Russian and Armenian, especially in regards to Cyrillic domains. We are working on common rules for them It's extremely important for us to deliver our concerns to ICANN and to receive any advices and help from other ccTLDs. Dear All,
As discussed during the EURALO call yesterday, we are now calling for volunteers to help develop the EURALO position on ICANN?s Geographic Regions.
The first task will be to provide input for the public consultation on the interim report of the Geographic Regions Review Working Group which ends on 30 January 2011. However, the working group will remain active even after the close of the consultation period and prepare a more comprehensive position paper in view of the final Geographic Review report.
In addition to issues of direct concern to EURALO, such as the membership criteria for the European region, we will also look at the global implications of ICANN?s geographic model. In light of the shift in world population and, in particular, the world?s Internet users during the past 10 years, a re-assessment of ICANN?s geographic regions seems adequate.

For anybody interested in joining us, we created a Doodle poll to find a suitable date and time for discussion ? please enter your availabilities or preferences below: http://doodle.com/aazherwmx6pycxxt
If we are a small group with Skype connections each, we could do it in a Skype group call.

Good evening:
Thankyou for these detailed and informative minutes.
Under the matter of individual members, and the comments from Annette and Yrjo, among others, I did not say that Option B was "ideal". If anything I said that I supported it although it was "not ideal".
I must say, that in this and other contexts, and as a general proposition, At Large and EURALO should concentrate our substantive debates on the policy issues affecting the user interest in ICANN. Our internal procedural matters are usually quite secondary, particularly as most of the final outcomes will not be "ideal" because they have to reflect a workable consensus - without undue delay - which allows us to get on with the substantive work.
Just a thought,
CW
PS: WIth my apologies for leaving the call yesterday evening, early.

Dear all,
I would be really interested to participate in this group, but to be realistic while looking at my schedule, it will be not possible until end January. (I am busy to organise a quite big event in Germany 27th/31th of January, dedicated to the "Saver Internet Day" on. (www.mitteldeutsches-internetforum.de). After this period I will be able to contribute, so if my input is welcome thereafter I would be happy to join this group. Nevertheless I filled into the doodle.
Best Sandra
