Updated Preliminary Recommendations Issue Scoping

Dear All, Following the comments from Carlos and Amr, I've updated the preliminary recommendations document to reflect their feedback. You'll find attached both the redline and clean version, as well as the clean version in pdf format. Manal, Jonathan, will you distribute this document to the GAC and GNSO Council so everyone will hopefully have an opportunity to review the document prior to the joint GAC-GNSO Council meeting in Singapore? If easier, I'm sure Olof and I will be happy to assist as well to get this document shared with the respective groups. Best regards, Marika

Hi all, and apologies for not having been as active on the list recently; totally immersed in the IANA transition and ICANN accountability processes. But I did just come across the recently posted document below, which is also the subject of a survey, and wondered if this was something we would be raising in Singapore during the GAC-GNSO exchange. http://gnso.icann.org/en/issues/policy-implementation/pi-wg-initial-recommen... And on another topic, the schedule for Singapore, would someone be able to refresh my memory as to the date/time of the informal GAC-GNSO get together? I recall it being a luncheon but apparently didn't put it into my calendar. In that regard, are we seeking to encourage other GAC and GNSO members who aren't on the Consultation Group to join? Or is this just for the CG? Hi Suzanne, The GAC-GNSO CG meeting is scheduled for Monday 8 February from 12.30 - 14.00 local time in meeting room Indiana. The meeting should be appearing on the schedule shortly (I hope). In relation to the public comment forum on Policy & Implementation, are there any specific questions you have in relation to that topic or are you suggesting that it may be worth providing an update on this topic to the GAC? For your information, the GNSO Working Group that is responsible for that report is also organising a public session in Singapore on Wednesday 11 February (see http://singapore52.icann.org/en/schedule/wed-policy-implementation). Thanks, Marika, for your prompt (as always) and informative (as always) response!! Much appreciated. So in terms of the lunch meeting, are we to encourage other GAC members to join? I don't want to overwhelm the occasion, but thought we had considered it a useful way to draw in other GAC and GNSO members into this process. I'm in the group's hands here, so please advise as to what would be appropriate. Re the policy/implementation initial report, I don't have any specific issues or questions as yet (have only just had time to skim the paper), but I did think it should be brought to the GAC's attention. Thanks too for the notice that there will be a session on it, but also note that the session occurs during the GAC meetings, such that few if any GAC members are likely going to be able to attend. I know we all struggle with concurrent meetings, and this actually bolsters the rationale for the work of this CG; there have to be other ways to build bridges between different SOs and ACs. And here's a radical thought, is there a way we could use our work to advance the need to address the overall meeting schedule issue since it seems to pull people in so many different directions? It was an element of the Meetings Strategy Working Group, but not fully fleshed out. Thanks to Ana for pointing out that it is Monday 9 February and not 8. My understanding is that the meeting is open to anyone interested and should be posted on the ICANN meeting schedule shortly, but lunch is in principle only ordered for the CG members so maybe a system of giving priority to CG members may need to be considered when it comes to the food arrangements?
