- Draft Principles for Requesting Data & Metrics from Contracted Parties
Dear WG Members, As discussed on today¹s call, I am sending around the draft set of principles for requesting data & metrics from contracted parties for policy development. Best, Steven Chan Sr. Policy Manager ICANN 12025 Waterfront Drive, Suite 300 Los Angeles, CA 90094-2536 steve.chan@icann.org <mailto:steve.chan@icann.org> direct: +1.310.301.3886 mobile: +1.310.339.4410 tel: +1.310.301.5800 fax: +1.310.823.8649
The wider RySG has made the following recommended additions to the principles themselves: - Participant lists should also be treated as confidential. - Special care should be taken when Personally Identification Information (PII) data is involved. And this background feedback: - If the output of this WG is specifically aimed at registration related data, then a clear definition of “registration related data” is needed. - The last bullet under Mission in the WG’s charter says: “Any changes needed to incorporate the processes described above into the ongoing Policy Development Process.” This could be misinterpreted. The WG should identify any areas of the PDP that need to be modified to accommodate recommendations coming out of this WG, i.e., adjusting the process itself to allow for requesting data on an optional basis from registries and registrars. In other words, this mission statement relates to the general policy development process and not to any specific PDP. I note that we need more diverse voices from the RySG, and wider interest, and will make an appeal for those that are able to attend in ICANN LA. As Pam stated, the DMPM meeting does conflict with the NTAG meeting though I will encourage non-applicants (that is, fully executed registries) to attend.
