Subject: For your review - proposed approach & timeline

Dear All,

As discussed during the last meeting, the staff support team has worked with leadership to develop a first draft of the proposed approach and timeline for the small team’s work. You can find this first draft here for your review: https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/gnso-epdpp2-smallteam/2022-March/000070.html.

As outlined in the google doc, the small team’s assignment instructions were not presented as a sequential set of tasks for the small team. The table in the google doc has sought to lay out the proposed tasks for the small team in a chronological fashion, to aid in understanding the work ahead. Note that the proposed tasks have been identified by the staff support team and leadership as the suggested approach for achieving the assignment. The small team is encouraged to indicate if these tasks do not align with their understanding of the assignment and/or if there are additional tasks that need to be considered. Please provide any input or suggestions you may have in the form of comments to the document in advance of next week’s meeting (30 March) so that the small team can discuss these and hopefully finalize this document.

Please also take note of the deadline (4 April) for each of you to reach out to your respective groups and provide feedback on the outreach questions, namely:

  1. Can your SG/C please provide further details on what specific problem(s) policy development in particular would be expected to address and why you believe policy development is the right mechanism to solve those problems?
  2. What do you believe are the expected outcomes if policy development would be undertaken, taking into account the remit of ICANN and more specifically GNSO policy development in this context?
  3. Does your SG/C have any expectations with regards to possible next steps the GNSO Council could or should undertake in the context of policy development?

Best regards,

Steve and Marika
