During the meeting today, the EPDP Team was informed of the discussion the leadership team had with the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean Generation Panel (CJK GP) chairs during ICANN75. The CJK GP chairs indicated preliminary agreement on helping address Part 2 of the charter question A7 – i.e., conducting additional work to identify guidelines and/or a list of Han characters that should not be allowed as single-character TLDs.

 

Staff have prepared a draft letter as an official request from the EPDP Team to the GPs to initiate this work.
