Hi Team,

As I mentioned on today’s call, I’d like to make a formal friendly request that we add an agenda item to next week’s call to replace Phase 1 Recommendation 1 Purpose 2.

I propose this for a couple reasons:

1. The other two agenda items appear noncontroversial, and I think we can dispose of them quickly with consensus.
2. We have a lot to do in very little time.
3. We must replace the P1R1P2 Purpose with one that does not conflate ICANN Purposes vs. third party purposes.

To help get us started, I suggest a strawman Purpose for discussion:

“Contributing to the maintenance of the security, stability, and resiliency of the Domain Name System in accordance with ICANN’s mission;” (Copied and pasted from P1R1P2, with conflation truncated)

I hope we all find this language noncontroversial, especially since I recall agreement on this conceptually in Phase 1. With the clarity on third party purposes we have in the Phase 2 Initial Report, I believe the IPC can support this as concluding our work on ICANN Purposes.
