For your review - latest version of draft Initial Report, deadline 7 January 2020
Ho, ho, ho, EPDP Team, As promised, your early Christmas present has arrived! The latest version of the draft Initial Report has been posted for your review (see https://community.icann.org/x/BQZxBw). In this clean version, staff has incorporated the latest language of the building blocks that has been reviewed over the last couple of weeks and made a number of minor updates to address input already received. Remaining comments and text highlighted in yellow concern items that will need to be further reviewed and discussed by the EPDP Team in upcoming meetings. For those interested, we have also posted a redline version (pdf document) so you can see all the edits made as well as comments resolved. If there are any comments or edits that have been applied / resolved but which in your group’s opinion should be further considered, please mark these as such in the new google doc. As a reminder: * Please do not reopen previously closed discussions unless there is new information to consider. * If you have concerns about certain section, please provide alternative language to address your concern but also factor in other perspectives expressed to date. * Please do not redline but provide language suggestions in the form of comments so that these can be reviewed by all before being applied. * Minor edits (grammar, style) can be sent to the staff support team directly. Your group’s input is due at the latest by 7 January 2020. Happy reading and happy holidays!! Caitlin, Berry and Marika
Thanks Marika, you might be accused of being the Grinch here! In case anyone wants more work, the Advocate General has published his findings in the Schrems II case, http://curia.europa.eu/juris/document/document.jsf;jsessionid=9AD7E6C58AF10DE8CE646E2E075E046E?text=&docid=221826&pageIndex=0&doclang=EN&mode=req&dir=&occ=first&part=1&cid=461200 A summary appears on the Court site here https://curia.europa.eu/jcms/upload/docs/application/pdf/2019-12/cp190165en...., but it is well worth reading the entire AG document, IMHO. Members of this list have suffered through my constant reminders that we must consider the impact of the Charter on our policy, particularly in the matter of disclosure, and this brief summarizes why (albeit not briefly). Happy holidays everyone! Stephanie Perrin On 2019-12-20 15:01, Marika Konings wrote: Ho, ho, ho, EPDP Team, As promised, your early Christmas present has arrived! Thank you Marika, while I did not allocate any time to this over the holidays, I am keen to see what has changed. I do object to the deadline tomorrow though, precisely because the holiday season we have just completed prevented any meaningful work from being done and our day-jobs also necessitate some catching up in the next few days. A deadline of next week would be more appropriate. Best, Volker Am 20.12.2019 um 21:01 schrieb Marika Konings:

Volker, Team, Happy and productive 2020 to all! Look forward working further as a Team to finalize the policy proposal in the first part of this year. The deadline was agreed by the team in one of the last meetings of 2019 with good knowledge of thevholiday period. Nobody raised an issue with deadline of comments. Being on vacation myself this week, I fully understand the pain. But we made commitment when volunteered to be on the Team. That said, the agenda for the next call is out and we will take stock on submitted comments. If any will be missing, they will be incorporated as soon as received. I hope that in the remaining 3 weeks before our f2f meeting we will make an effort to prepare it as good as we can. Thank you for understanding Jk Sent from my iPhone

I agree. we appreciated you getting it out to us before Christmas, but we did not have the time to deal with the hot potato over the holidays.
