It is my understanding that the letter was discussed, but not as yet actioned.
As you would recall Eleeza Agopian had noted in her letter that prioritizing our study would require for other tasks to be de-prioritized – including the SubPro ODP. These tasks are not in the purview of the Council and we did not comment on this aspect, but
I understand the Board will be seeking further input on re-prioritization and its consequences.
Given the impact on other work a formal vote might still be required which could push decisions to the next Board meeting.
I propose to liaise with Becky Burr and Eleeza Agopian to better understand how we can work around this and assist in a resolution as best as I can.
My thinking at this stage is that even if the ODP team was to start its work in the next week (which is highly unlikely), we would receive their results barely days before the next ICANN. This would assume that other work is indeed postponed
to meet our short target.
While I am keen on not extending timelines on our discussions, I also see that ICANN75 comes only 3 months later. This may give ample time to the ODP team to scope our work, allowing them to concentrate on their current work at least until
ICANN74.
Assuming we can secure now that our work be scheduled for the July-August timeframe without any other delay, are you comfortable with me engaging the Board and the ODP team in this direction?
