Although the 25th february is fine with me, this selection process of the date of that kickoff meeting does not sound to be the result of a consensus of the majority. I did not understand why a simple Doodle has not been created to allow  the majority of  the current members to find themselves into the chosen date, unless  the staff has  precedence on the process.

Welcome to all of those who have signed up to the WG already and we appreciate your enthusiasm in initiating discussions.

Staff has consulted with Paul McGrady, the Council liaison and interim chair, and identified a proposed date and time for the first WG meeting, which is Thursday, 25 February 2016 at 16:00 UTC. As the New gTLD Subsequent Procedures PDP is anticipated to be a topic of broad community interest, we thought it would be beneficial to allow the call for volunteers to remain open for a period of approximately three weeks. Going forward from that initial meeting, the WG may want to identify a different day of the week and time(s) that may be more convenient for members. Unless this proposed time proves widely problematic, we will work with the GNSO Secretariat to have meeting invitations sent to members in the near future.

In terms of staff participation, it is indeed expected that a number of staff, including from the teams led by the folks Jeff mentioned, will at a minimum follow the mailing list, if not actively participate in WG discussions.

And to the discussion between Mirilia and Michele, the reason for targeting the end of February for the first meeting was to allow for adequate time for potential members to sign up before the WG begins discussions. However, as Michele noted, signing up after the WG starts is possible.

Also as a side note, I would like to see ICANN staff (not only policy staff) sign up on the mailing list.  I believe input from Christine Willet’s organization, Karen Lentz, Allen Grogan’s group and Krista Papac’s group could provide some good insight into our work.  To date they are not listed on the ICANN wiki.

Just writing to see if we were working on setting up an initial call or meeting schedule?  It would be great to meet a couple of times prior to ICANN 55 (which is less than a month away)?  There is a lot of work for us to do in this group.  I know Paul McGrady is the interim chair and as one of the former Discussion Group co-chairs, I would be happy to volunteer to assist Paul.
