Sorry I missed the call this morning. Daylight savings time confused me once again! I will listen to the transcript but I am very concerned with the automated request scenario that we are trying to solve for. 1) If there is a defined process to submit a request are you saying that a proxy vendor may receive 10,000 of the same request? 2) Or are these requests being sent through other means (such as an abuse email address) instead of the defined process? 3) What is the volume? 4) Do you receive hard copy requests 5) How does a proxy vendor handle those requests now? Can you define computer generated? Susan Kawaguchi Domain Name Manager Facebook Legal Dept. Phone - 650 485-6064
Hi Susan,
1)If there is a defined process to submit a request are you saying that a proxy vendor may receive 10,000 of the same request? Potentially yes. If we look at the way spam complaints are currently handled, or copyright infringement complaints, there already is a very high amount of automation, resulting in massive amounts of complaints. Just look at how many copyright complaints Google gets every day. We also see some complainants sending a single complaint for each link they consider problematic under the same domain, which may result in very high bursts of complaints sent our every three days, depending when they have set their reminder/retry scripts.
2)Or are these requests being sent through other means (such as an abuse email address) instead of the defined process? Currently, in our case every complaint ends up in our ticketing system (unless is was caught by our spam filters), regardless of the manner in which it was sent.
3)What is the volume? Very hard to predict. Some days no automated complaints at all, some days over a hundred.
4)Do you receive hard copy requests Even though we specifically indicate that hard copy requests will not be forwarded, we do regularly receive them. 5)How does a proxy vendor handle those requests now? Manually, one by one. Can you define computer generated? Any automation where a complaint is automatically generated without human interaction, fact checking or review.
