Lisa Phifer:Thanks for joining Erica - we'll wait a few minutes and then start
Lisa Phifer:As we wait to start, the draft is displayed in AC and you may with to review the addition just made by Brian to the users table: IP holder
Erica Varlese:sounds good :)
Lisa Phifer:Welcome Brian to the audio side
Sam Lanfranco:Lisa,
Sam Lanfranco:I will have to read and listen to audio tomorrow. This system isn't giving me audio and it has no mic. Sorry...and not happy.
Sam Lanfranco:I will stay and read notes as they scroll for now.
Fabricio Vayra:thanks, Sam
Michelle DeSmyter:Welcome Brian and Benjamin!
Fabricio Vayra:During acquisition, purchasers not only need to find out who they should contact, but also the domain name’s registration history to confirm prior associations to confirm no issues with buying a domain
name "fit for purpose." Additionally, WHOIS history provides information about mercahntability (e.g., as When buying a house, buyers do a title search to certify ownership and ownership custody chain, etc.). Similarly, domain name buyers commonly search WHOIS
records before and after sale to verify the old and new Registrant are accurately recorded.
Fabricio Vayra:*merchantability
Erica Varlese:possible phrasing: During a purchase or acquisition of a privately registered domain, the WHOIS lookup allows a potential buyer to determine how to contact the current registrant either through a privacy
proxy service or through a legal contact, if necessary.
Lisa Phifer:During a purchase or acquisition of a privately registered domain, the WHOIS lookup allows a potential buyer to determine how to contact the current domain name user/owner either through a privacy proxy
service or through a legal contact, if necessary.
Sam Lanfranco:Does that need "if necessary" if early on it says "lookup allows..."
Lisa Phifer:@Sam, replace "lookup allow" with "lookup allows (if necessary)" ?
Lisa Phifer:I think the if necessary applied to legal contact?
Sam Lanfranco:@Lisa, maybe I am being overly simple here but if "allows", it "allows" under any circumstances, necessary or not. I would keep it simple and not cloud it with an "if necessary" ... my 2 cents worth
of opinion here.
Lisa Phifer:@Sam, so just delete if necessary
Sam Lanfranco:@Lisa, that is what I would do. Including conditionals can muddy things.
Benjamin Akinmoyeje (Nigeria):Just to let everyone know I am listening and sorry for joining later
Fabricio Vayra:A broker who may be purchasing, facilitating a purchase or sale, or facilitating the exchange of monies for a purchase a sale on behalf of a registrant or third party purchaser.
Benjamin Akinmoyeje (Nigeria):I wont be there
Benjamin Akinmoyeje (Nigeria):I will try to join remotely
Fabricio Vayra:A third party buyer is an individual or entity (e.g., small business owners, corporations, and domain name brokers) that is attemtpting to buy a domain name from a registrant.
Sam Lanfranco:I won't be at \icann in Abu Dhabi either....(sigh!)
Fabricio Vayra:I will be on remotely during ICANN 60
Sam Lanfranco:Will try to join remotely....equipment willing...
Lisa Phifer:A third party buyer is an individual or entity (e.g., small business owners, corporations, and domain name brokers) that is attemtpting to buy a domain name from a registrant.
Sam Lanfranco:Since I have had limited access today, I will offer comments (by email) tomorrow.
Erica Varlese:thank you!
Fabricio Vayra:Thanks all!
