Good morning,

I've summarized in a few words the gist of both documents, and you will find the most important passages in the word files attached hereto.
2003 report ICANN | GNSO Whois Task Force Final Report on Accuracy and Bulk Access | 19 February 2003
Purpose: Data collected must be accurate and reliable, or else registrant’s site should be deleted. Illegitimate purpose: Use of bulk access WHOIS data for marketing should not be permitted.

WHOIS Task Force Report (2007):
http://gnso.icann.org/en/issues/whois-privacy/whois-services-final-tf-report-12mar07.htm
The two issues not agreed, i.e., the purpose of WHOIS contacts, and the question whether there should be a change in data from that now published, are unlikely ever to be the subject even of rough consensus among the interested parties.   The definition of purpose of WHOIS differs according to the stakeholder group.

Best regards,

Nathalie Coupet

Thanks Nathalie.

I will put you down for the WHOIS Task Force Report (2007):
http://gnso.icann.org/en/issues/whois-privacy/whois-services-final-tf-report-12mar07.htm

You may also wish to review the 2003 report. It can be found at:
https://archive.icann.org/en/gnso/whois-tf/report-19feb03.htm

It looks like the purpose team's checklist incorrectly linked the 2007 report title to the 2003 report web page. I will fix the checklist to include both documents with their correct hyperlinks.

Thanks
Lisa

Hello all,

Today's updated purpose team checklist (attached) was just posted to the wiki at:
https://community.icann.org/x/p4xlAw

Just follow the link above if you're looking for the latest daily update of any team's checklist.

In today's checklist update, to make it clearer which docs are not yet assigned, I have removed the ? names from the "Reviewed by" column. As you can see, there are still plenty of docs identified by this team over the past week or so that could still use volunteers to review them. For those not certain how much work is involved: summaries should be concise - for example, "executive summaries" that point the WG to the portions of the document most relevant to RDS purpose and why.

Best, Lisa

As discussed during today's WG call...

Two weeks ago, many WG members volunteered to help identify and summarize input documents and relevant background to educate the full WG and inform finalization of the RDS PDP WG work plan.

Thanks to all who have volunteered already. Now let's get going on completing this task!

To help us keep track of identified inputs, assignments, and summaries, staff has created input checklists for all three teams. The latest versions are posted daily at https://community.icann.org/x/p4xlAw

Why? It's essential that this initial effort be completed without delay so that our PDP WG can continue in full group mode to complete tasks required at the start of every PDP: a work plan and early outreach to SO/ACs and SG/Cs. Once we reach that point, the full WG can begin deliberations.

To achieve this and distribute workload, the leadership team has drafted the following plan:

1)      Between now and end-of-day Wednesday 6 April, every volunteer is asked to review their small team input checklist and offer to review and summarize at least one input (can be an input already identified or new). Email each summary to your own small team no later than Monday 11 April.

2)      On Thursday 7 April, team leaders will assign any documents identified but not yet taken to volunteers still without assignments. If you find yourself assigned a document that you are unable to summarize, let your team lead know immediately so that an alternative assignment can be made.

3)      Summarization progress will be assessed during the Tuesday 12 April WG call, where we will agree on a plan to consolidate small team outputs into templates to be presented to the full WG in April.

4)      By the end of April, the full WG will resume discussion of its work plan as well as approving a message to SO/ACs and SG/Cs to initiate early outreach, which may seek feedback on the completeness of inputs identified in the Issue Report and by the WG through this small team effort.

The most recent checklist is attached for your convenience. Please visit https://community.icann.org/x/p4xlAw for the most current version each day.
