In a
personal attempt to try to facilitate progress on
specific RDS purposes, I reviewed the WG comments and
used member comments to come up with the following for
consideration on our call today for specifi purpose 2.
Current
item 2: A purpose of
a system to collect, maintain, and provide access to
gTLD registration data (hereafter referred to as “the
RDS”) is to
provide information that
is needed by authorized parties to operate a generic
top-level domain name in the DNS.

proposal for item 2: “A registration data service
purpose is to manage access to information about
registries, registrars, domain names and name servers
for gTLDs.”
I also noted
that the rest of the listed purposes and comments might
be sub-categories for this one.
