Adobe Connect chat transcript for 6 October 2016

The chat history has been cleared

Nathalie Peregrine: Dear all, welcome to the GNSO Review Working Group call on the 6 October 2016

Nathalie Peregrine: Meeting page: https://community.icann.org/x/jRa4Aw

Nathalie Peregrine: Rafik Dammak has joined the call

Nathalie Peregrine: Mahendra Limaye has joined the audio bridge

Lori Schulman: I don't have sound at the moment so my apologies.  Once again, this deadline looks too ambitious given the WS2 work and deadlines surrounding that.

Heath Dixon: Question: So the dependencies have not already been identified?

Julie Hedlund: @Lori: In the ICANN Board resolultion, the GNSO must submit the implementation plan to the Board by December 2016

Lori Schulman: I will report this back to my constituency but this pushing the same pool of volunteers is beginning to wear on me.  I apologize for complaining but this a real concern.

Julie Hedlund: @Lori: Understood!  Volunteer fatigue is a real concern.

Heath Dixon: (I put a question in the chat)

Heath Dixon: (don't have audio)

Heath Dixon: OK.  Seems like an important consideration for timing (e.g., if there is a Medium item that is a dependency for a High, then we need to bump it up the queue).  What's the timeframe for staff completing that work?

Julie Hedlund: @Heath: Staff will work to produce an analysis of dependencies as quickly as possible as a first step.  It will be helpful if the WG could provide a deadline/goal for this work.  I think we will discuss this today.

Heath Dixon: @Julie: Thank you.

Marika Konings: as far as I am aware, I don't think the GNSO Review recommendations are structure specific (and neither does the transition create a different structure, it just creates new responsibilities for the GNSO)

Marika Konings: the good thing is that Julie is also the main support for the group that is working on possible changes to the Bylaws and GNSO Operating Procedures as a result of the post-transition world, so she will in a unique position to recognise any dependencies :-)

Lori Schulman: Agree with Rafik,  possibly not a realistic deadline given Hyderabad prep....and all of the time we are spending on Visa applications.  :)

Rafik: @lori I was also thinking that most of folks here will celebrate thanksgiving too ;)

Lori Schulman: Yes, we have several days off in US for Thanksgiving.

Rafik: do we have enough members for setting many subgroups?

Julie Hedlund: @Lori and Rafik: But the deadline is 21 November to the Council, so before Thanksgiving :-)

Heath Dixon: Seems like the only way we can succeed.

Lori Schulman: You are killing us.

Heath Dixon: That approach makes sense to me.

Heath Dixon: Question: Do we have an example of a plan at this high level that we can use as a guide?

Lori Schulman: My mid year leadership meeting takes place right after Hyderabad.  I will be out commission completely from November 14-19.

Lori Schulman: I have back to back conferences between Hyderabad and the deadline.  I will let my constituency know.

Lori Schulman: If Staff is willing to take the first piece of work that would  certainly help us meet the tight deadline.

Rafik: lost sounds for some time

Lori Schulman: Glad to see my concerns on the slides....guess that are not new.

Nathalie Peregrine: Lawrence Olawale Roberts has joined the AC room

Lawrence Olawale-Roberts: sorry for joining late couldn't get a good connection until now. I'll follow up

Nathalie Peregrine: Pascal Bekono has joined the AC room

Pascal Bekono: Hello dear all, sorry

Wolf-Ulrich Knoben: sorry I messed the point

Wolf-Ulrich Knoben: ...missed...

Sara Bockey: I think it would depend on the recommendation(s)

Rafik: it depends of the level of effort for each recommendation.

Wolf-Ulrich Knoben: I mean I missed what you were saying, Jen.

Lori Schulman: this time works perfectly for me

Lori Schulman: 3 of those 5 weeks I am on travel -- just fyi

Lori Schulman: @Jen = thank you so much for being flexible and understanding this

Lawrence Olawale-Roberts: I would like to nominate wolf Ulrich as a co-chair

Nathalie Peregrine: Lawrence you are unmuted

Lawrence Olawale-Roberts: sorry my quick didn't work

Lawrence Olawale-Roberts: audio

Lori Schulman: Good first meeting Jen.  Thank you!

Julie Hedlund: Thanks so much everyone!

Lori Schulman: and to staff for doing the first heavy lift

Wolf-Ulrich Knoben: Thanks all and bye!

Lori Schulman: ciao

Sara Bockey: Thanks all.  Thank you staff!!!

Lawrence Olawale-Roberts: thanks and bye
