Dear Lawrence,

Thank you for your message. This meeting slot was reserved before there were conflicts. That being said, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to secure an unconflicted timeslot at ICANN meetings and – in any case – it is also too late at this point to reschedule.  However, as usual the session will be recorded and staff will also capture brief notes, for those SCCI members who cannot attend.

Kind regards,

Julie

Dear Julie,

Thanks for the valuable information shared. Of concern is the first meeting for our group - the planned kick-off meeting to be held at ICANN82 in Seattle is planned for Saturday, 08 March from 16:30-17:30 local time. This time belt clashes with the CSG Membership working session and would impact the attendance of BC, ISPCP and IPC members on the SCCI.

Kindly consider rescheduling our first meeting to such a time where such a large number of participants would not be impacted.

warm regards.

Lawrence.

Subject: [Gnso-scci] Call for Volunteers: SCCI Chair & Vice-Chair

Dear SCCI members,

Welcome to the SCCI!

Now that membership has been confirmed, we can turn to our first order of business: Calling for Volunteers for Chair and Vice-Chair.  Please see the roles and criteria below per the SCCI Charter [gnso.icann.org]. Please submit your nominations on the SCCI list in response to this message no later than close of business, Friday, 21 February.  In the event that there is more than one candidate, we will run an election process via Doodle poll.

Our kick-off meeting will be held at ICANN82 in Seattle on Saturday, 08 March from 16:30-17:30 local time (09 March 12:30 UTC). An agenda will be posted prior to the meeting.

Kind regards,

Steve, Saewon, and Julie

***More Information on Leadership Roles and Criteria***

Leadership Structure

The SCCI leadership team shall consist of a total of 2 members:

             SCCI Chair (1)

             SCCI Vice-Chair6 (1)

The leadership team of the SCCI is a volunteer position, selected by the SCCI and confirmed by the Council. The SCCI Chair serves as a neutral facilitator who calls meetings, presides over SCCI deliberations, and manages the process so that all participants have the opportunity to contribute. The Chair also represents the SCCI to the public. The Chair is also a contributing member to the SCCI deliberations and participates in consensus calls. The Vice-Chair will assist the Chair, and should at any point a Vice-Chair needs to step into the role of Chair, the same expectations with regards to fulfilling the role of Chair as outlined in this charter will apply. As members of the leadership team may be serving in two roles, they are expected to make clear when they are providing input as a member as opposed to speaking in a leadership capacity.

Leadership Criteria

The SCCI leadership is expected to carry out the roles and responsibilities and meet the qualifications as detailed in the Expectations for Working Group Leaders & Skills Checklist [gnso.icann.org]. As noted in the document, the leadership team must lead with neutrality and impartiality, while seeking to build consensus. The leadership team should also be familiar with the GNSO Chair Handbook [gnso.icann.org] and the Consensus Playbook [gnso.icann.org].
