Thanks for the input Anne, which I’m not going to try and answer – I think these are great questions for the SCCI to work through together.

What I am going to do instead is to thank you and others who have already reviewed the draft and remind everyone else that your review in advance of the 15 April meeting is super important to that meeting being productive.

Thanks, and happy reviewing!

Steve

Subject: [Ext] Re: [Gnso-scci] Proposed GNSO Criteria and Indicators

Thanks Steve.  A couple of general comments in advance of the April 15 meeting.  (I did place some in the doc too.)

1.  There are many references to "at least one mechanism" in the indicators.  It strikes me that this is too low a standard.  I would suggest "mechanisms" or "one or more mechanisms" would be more appropriate in all the indicators.

2. There are indicators designed to measure coordination with other parts of ICANN but we said that when we survey, we will only be surveying GNSO "constituents".  That seems to be an odd way to try to measure what we are doing vis-a-vis other SOs and ACs, the Board, etc.  Why would the GNSO not be asking other groups how successful we are at this?

3.  I assume that these indicators relate to the entire GNSO and not just to Council.  Are the distinctions made in relation to each question clear as to when we mean the GNSO as a whole and when we mean Council?

Thank you!

Anne

Dear SCCI Members,

As agreed, the leadership team and staff have worked over the last few days to try and develop proposed Indicators for each of the Criteria. As was discussed with the SCCI, the Indicators follow a general pattern: A combination of qualitative statement-based (e.g., existing processes) and quantitative indicators (e.g., data-driven and/or survey-based) can collectively demonstrate address the relevant Criteria.

The SCCI’s next scheduled call is for 15 April, where substantive feedback from SCCI members will be discussed. However, to better ensure a productive meeting, please complete your review before then. In advance of the call, we would encourage you to provide input to the email list and/or add comments directly to the document. However, please resist the urge to directly redline the text!

If you have any questions or concerns, please let leadership and staff know.
