Action Items

  1. Support Staff to send consensus call today for the SSC’s selection of Nitin Walia as the UA EWG candidate. [COMPLETE] 
  2. SSC members have 48 hours (until Thursday, 26 June at 18:30 UTC) to register objections to Nitin’s appointment.
  3. Pending no objections, the GNSO Council will vote on the appointment for the GNSO UA EWG candidate during its upcoming meeting on Thursday, 10 July. 
  4. Support Staff to send a doodle poll to schedule the next meeting of the SSC on 30 July, where the SSC will discuss the appointment for the GNSO Non-Registry Liaison and Alternate to the Customer Standing Committee (CSC). (Note: the poll for SSC evaluation of candidates for these positions will open on 21 July and close on 28 July.)

  1. Universal Acceptance (UA) Expert Working Group (EWG) Candidates Evaluation
    1. Review of Poll Results

·         Poll opened on 18 June and closed on 23 June

·         Survey results are not to determine selection of candidates, but to serve as a guide

·         There were 6 respondents out of 9 SSC members - thank you to those who responded

·         There were 6 candidates for UA EWG Candidate

·         The top three candidates, ranked in order are:

·         Nitin Walia

·         Jim Galvin

·         Amina Ramallan

b.       Discussion and Selection of Candidate

·         Agree with rankings, so this should be a simple selection

·         Agree with rankings - in previous experience with Nitin, think he would be a great candidate

·         Unanimous support for Nitin Walia as the UA EWG candidate

    1. Timing of Consensus Call & GNSO Council Confirmation

·         With the Committee’s decision today, a consensus call will be sent out with 48 hours (until Thursday, 26 July) to register objections. If there are no objections, the Council will vote on the candidate during its upcoming meeting on 10 July 2025. 

b.       GNSO Non-Registry Liaison and Alternate to the CSC - 2025

·         SSC has been asked by the GNSO Council to evaluate the candidates for the GNSO Non-Registry Liaison and Alternate to the Customer Standing Committee (CSC). 

·         The EOI was announced on 4 June, with a deadline for input on 16 July. 

·         Poll for SSC will open on 21 July and close on 28 July. 

·         Support Staff to send a doodle poll to schedule the next meeting of the SSC on 30 July.
