Subject: Call for Volunteers: Leadership for Standing Selection Committee (SSC)

Dear SSC Members,

I hope this message finds you safely.

First, a warm welcome to our new SSC members and to those returning. We are still awaiting finalization, but please see the membership list gathered so far: https://icann-community.atlassian.net/wiki/x/NADRBQ

Our first order of business is to select our Leadership Team – Chair and Vice Chair per the Charter:

The SSC is expected to select its Chair from its membership. The SSC may also select one or two Vice Chairs from its membership to assist the Chair. The Chair serves as a neutral facilitator who calls meetings, presides over SSC deliberations, and manages the process so that all participants have the opportunity to contribute. The Chair and Vice Chair(s) are also contributing members to the SSC deliberations and participate in consensus calls. Because members of the leadership team are serving in two roles, they are expected to make clear when they are providing input as a member as opposed to speaking in a leadership capacity.

Accordingly, this email serves as a Call for Volunteers for Chair and Vice Chair(s). Please respond to this email on the SSC list if you would like to volunteer, and/or if you would like to nominate someone within the members by Tuesday, 2 December 2025, at 23:59 UTC. The volunteers will then be put forward to the list to be confirmed by non-objection. Subsequently, the confirmed names of the Chair and Vice Chair(s) shall be submitted to the GNSO Council for formal confirmation at its meeting on Thursday, 11 December 2025, at 21:00 UTC.

If the SSC should need more time to choose its Chair/Vice Chair(s), this motion can be deferred to the GNSO Council’s January Meeting, but ideally we would like to complete the process by the end of year so that the SSC is ready for action for the next selection process (Next assignment is anticipated for January 2026: GNSO Appointed Mentor - ICANN Fellowship Program Selection Process).

Next, an email has already been sent to you with a Doodle poll to help us schedule a 60-minute Kick-off Meeting. Please also complete the Doodle poll by Tuesday, 2 December 2025, at 23:59 UTC. Once the Kick-off Meeting is scheduled, a draft agenda will be sent to the list.
