1. GNSO Support Staff to submit the SSC leadership team for 2025 (Karen Day as Chair, Segunfunmi Olajide for Vice-Chair – both serving second terms) to the GNSO Council for its confirmation at the January Council Meeting (09 January).
2. GNSO Support Staff to send a doodle poll for 22 January (90-minute meeting for Fellowship Mentor and Selection Committee Member selection processes) and 27 January (TBC, if necessary, for Latin Script Diacritics PDP WG Chair selection process).
3. GNSO Support Staff to circulate/open a poll for SSC members on 10 January to complete on Fellowship Mentor and Selection Committee Member selection processes.

1. Welcome & Introductions

• The GNSO Standing Selection Committee (SSC) is tasked, as requested by the GNSO Council, to 1) where applicable, prepare and issue calls for applications related to the selection or nomination of candidates for ICANN structures such as ICANN review teams, 2) review and evaluate all relevant applicants/candidates, 3) rank candidates and make selection/appointment recommendations for review and approval by Council, and 4) communicate selections to all interested parties.

2. 2025 Chair and Vice-Chair Nominations

• The membership of the SSC is reconfirmed annually. Following reconfirmation each year, the SSC selects a Chair and one or two Vice Chair(s) from its membership.
• Karen Day and Segungunmi Olajide have both volunteered again to serve another year (second year) as Chair and Vice-Chair of the SSC.
• Upon no objections, the following information will be shared with the GNSO Council at the upcoming Council Meeting in January:

“The SSC selected a leadership team for 2025, which it submitted for confirmation to the GNSO Council by way of this motion:

• Karen Day for a second term as Chair.
• Segunfunmi Olajide to serve for a second term as Vice-Chair.”

  • 22 January 2025: Start consensus call for candidate selection
  • 24 January 2025: End consensus call for candidate selection
  • 31 January 2025: Deadline to submit name of recommended candidate to Fellowship Program (subject to GNSO Council confirmation)
  • 03 February 2025: Document and Motion Deadline for GNSO Council meeting
  • 13 February 2025: Council confirms candidate recommended by SSC

3. Process TBD: Latin Diacritics PDP Working Group Chair

• Announcement is published with deadline on the GNSO website: https://gnso.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-03jan25-en.htm
• In the unlikely event that there are multiple candidates, the SSC will be called to evaluate the candidates in preparation for the name to be submitted and confirmed by the GNSO Council on 13 February.
• Questions and Discussion Items:
  • The next communication to the SSC members will be made from Support Staff to inform the opening of the poll on 10 January 2025 regarding the Fellowship Program Mentor and Selection Committee Member selection processes.
