The intent of paragraph 5 is say that a successful candidate should have enough experience with various sectors of the Internet ecosystem to be able to evaluate the applications in the ICANN context. The list of areas in the Internet ecosystem that may be relevant is brought over from the Fellowship Selection Committee webpage<https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/fellowship-selection-committee>. I’ve clarified with Org colleagues supporting the Fellowship Program that “I* entities” include organizations such as ISOC, the IETF, and the IAB, in addition to ICANN. I don’t believe that there is any restriction on the ability of a Nom Com appointee to Council from applying, as long as they meet the other criteria. I hope this is helpful. The SSC will be meeting early next week to go over the assignment from Council, and we can discuss any further questions there, as well.
