Hello Emily and SSC members, I have reviewed the candidates' profile and I was about to submit my survey information but I want to make a suggestion. This is in connection with questions 4 and 5 below: 4. Evaluator's Comments/Observations on Candidates' Skills and Experience: 5. I think it will make the work easier for all of us when the results are put together. We will also be able to see each of the SSC members' responses to the individual candidates. So my suggestions are that the questions 4 and 5 be reframed as below: 4. Hi all and Happy Holidays! As this effort is my first as an SSC member, I created the attached scoring matrix to assist in my assessment of the candidates. While the approach (i.e., scoring 0, 1 or 2 for each factor) is simplistic, I found myself using a 0.5 and 1.5 in some instances where a 0, 1 or 2 did not feel sufficient. The matrix has helped me rank the candidates in what I perceive to be the most objective way. If the matrix helps you in some way, terrific. Also, if you have ideas about how to improve the matrix I'd love to hear them. I look forward to our call on January 7th. Thank you Craig. So far the staff-provisioned tool is adequate to the task. However, I can see where the framing you suggest could be handy for a contested posting with several well-qualified applicants to evaluate. That aside and if colleagues think it might be useful in context, I would not object to Staff having a look towards a possible adoption for all of us. My Best Wishes for a bountiful 2021. As I had an unexpected family medical matter to attend to this morning, it compromised my ability to fully participate in the call. I tried to type in the chat when I could. The only matter for me that isn't clear with respect to next steps is whether or not a subsequent EOI for the CRG will be discussed/conducted to potentially fill the second slot available to the GSNO. Would appreciate hearing from ICANN staff on this. Thank you, Craig *--* Craig Schwartz Managing Director fTLD Registry Services | .BANK & .INSURANCE Mobile: +1 202 236 1154 www.fTLD.com
Dear Craig, Thank you for the question. It is ultimately the SG/C Chairs that will decide whether a subsequent EOI process will be opened. However, if the SSC would like to provide input on the matter, staff can share this with the SG/C Chairs. SSC members are welcome to share on list whether they think the SSC should provide input to the SG/C Chairs. Hi Emily, Thanks for this. Given the importance of this opportunity and the limited number of EOIs that have been received, I support seeking input from the SG/C Chairs. I have reached out to the RySG Chair on this, but haven't heard back yet. I have to agree with Craig, I think we should provide feedback to SG/C Leaders that there should be a second EOI for GNSO candidates. The first call for EOIs was a relatively short period (2-3 weeks), the call was just before the holiday period, and there was only one GNSO applicant. Given the CRG will play a critical role in establishing one of ICANN’s accountability mechanism, we want to avoid any questioning of the legitimacy of the formation of the CRG – this includes timing and duration of the call for EOIs. For the sake of appearances, I think there should be a second EOI. I also note that in some of our meetings late last year, there were some concerns raised by SSC members about the low number of applications received for volunteer positions. I don’t know if those concerns still exist with members, or whether they apply to this particular assignment. Hi Emily, A quick note to circle back on this. Should another EOI be opened, I think the questionnaire needs to mirror what is in Section 3.1 of the Terms of Reference. Hi all- This was discussed in the RrSG meeting today and there may be another EOI round requested; the challenge in more robust volunteer quantity seems to be a perfect storm of holidays + volunteer fatigue + pandemic + gap of awareness of what the task of IRP is (ie it was called selecting people to select people to select people). There is another discussion happening between contracted CPH about approaching the GNSO for second EOI on it. -Jothan Jothan Frakes Tel: +1.206-355-0230 On Mon, Jan 11, 2021 at 1:36 PM Craig Schwartz via Gnso-ssc < gnso-ssc@icann.org> wrote:
