I apologize for the delay on this.

 

Attached is my re-organization of the additional principles. These principles have been regrouped into three major categories each with several sub categories. 

 

I also flagged concepts that are reflected in the additional principles, but are not explicitly called out in the overarching principle. While the general spirit of many of the additional principles is reflected in the current overarching principle there are specific differences or additions that may bear additional consideration. I did my best to be objective here, but please feel free to add, delete, comment on these flagged concepts.

 

I didn't make any changes to either the overarching principle or the last section with notes on that principle. I attempted to port all of the comments - please let me know if you think a comment made by you or someone else in the group got lost.

 

I hope that this document is useful and am happy to implement modifications or additional suggestions.

Hello everyone,

 

As discussed on the sub-team call earlier today, I've updated the Working Principles document to reflect: (1) the wording change to the definition of "multi stakeholder model", per Michael's input from the Definitions sub-team; (2) the reworked bullet points on the General Principles that reflect the basis of Policy and Implementation processes in ICANN's multi-stakeholder model; (3) removal of several Additional Principles that the group agreed were already incorporated into the three General Principles; and (4) a new "Section III" for the group to consider including as Explanatory Notes to the three General Principles (if needed).

 

Please note that I've taken the liberty of deleting earlier comments in the previous version that were dealt with by the group today, and moved some remaining comments from the Additional Principles section to the new Section III as they do not seem to encapsulate additional principles but rather expound on specific aspects of the General Principles. Where I've added language, I've highlighted that in yellow in this new version.

 

Should you wish to ensure that I have not inadvertently lost some comments or suggestions from the previous version, I attach that as well for your convenience. 

 

For the benefit of those sub team members who were not able to be on the call today, Nic Steinbach has kindly offered to further review and revise this updated document framework in time for the group's next meeting on Thursday 23 January.

While encouraging sub-team members to comment on any items in this document, I especially want to ask all of you to do one more review of the overarching principle at the beginning.  We spent most of our call last week working on the wording of that and I would like to move past that in our call this week.  If you have any more comments or edits about the overarching principle, please communicate them before our call on Thursday if at all possible.  I would like to spend no more than 5 or 10 minutes on the overarching principle at the beginning of our call this week and move on to the other draft principles.

When you or Mary have time, I think it would be helpful if the comments that Avri sent yesterday were added to this document.  I believe they dealt with principles after the overarching principle so they did not come up in yesterday’s discussions but I don’t want to lose those going forward.
