Subject: Update on RST v2.0 OT&E environment
Date: 17 April 2025 at 20:32:10 BST
To: tech-services <tech-services@icann.org>
Dear Colleagues,
Further to our previous communications, ICANN is providing this update on the status of the Registry System Testing (RST) v2.0 service.
As previously announced, initial development was completed for 100% of the test cases in February 2025, with the exception of support for the gTLD Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) Profile 2024 that is planned to be added in CYQ3 2025. The service is currently in “beta”. ICANN org is continuing to carry out internal testing to ensure the service meets the community’s expectations of quality and reliability, but current and prospective Registry Operators and Registry Service Providers (RSPs) are encouraged to onboard onto the Operational Test & Evaluation (OT&E) environment as soon as possible, to integrate with the RST-API and test their registry systems against the new test plans. This will ensure that production RSP evaluation tests can be completed smoothly and without delay.
The RST system is expected to remain in beta until the end of July 2025, rather than the originally planned March 2025 timeline, as ICANN org continues to address bugs and enhances system stability for production readiness.
Currently, ICANN org does not consider that this delay will affect the New gTLD Program: Next Round critical path nor the start of technical testing in the RSP Evaluation Program. We understand that RSP applicants could be affected if their RSP's platforms do not conform with technical specifications and find out about this in the OT&E environment close to when technical testing starts. To mitigate the potential scenario for RSP applicants described above, ICANN org has updated the RST v2.0 web page with a list of known issues, which RSP applicants can consult when troubleshooting the results of tests carried out in the OT&E environment to understand if a test failed or is a known issue. ICANN org will regularly update this page as issues are fixed or new issues are identified.
If you discover an issue with the OT&E environment that is not listed in the section Known Issues of the RST v2.0 page, please submit it to ICANN’s Global Support via the Naming Services portal or by emailing globalsupport@icann.org.
More information about the RST v2.0 service, including the process for requesting access, may be found on the new RST v2.0 page on the ICANN website:
To request access to the OT&E environment, users must first complete the steps listed on the page above.
