We (IANA) are planning additional data formats to expose more of the root zone database taxonomy and metadata in a structured way. However we don’t plan on changing the format of the file specifically at http://data.iana.org/TLD/tlds-alpha-by-domain.txt because too much software depends on it being formatted as it is.

Do you know if any changes to be expected to the location or format of http://data.iana.org/TLD/tlds-alpha-by-domain.txt ? (it contains ccTLDs too, so it is more useful as a source of all TLDs, including gTLDs and ccTLDs)
