Thank you again Nick for your efforts. This is sure helpful but
it is also time consuming as we are all committed in every day work
(paid work). It will be difficult to devote hours in a short
period of time to master all the issues and for example provide
comments for January 16th. It would be very much helpful to have
a short briefing/abstract and go back to existing documents or ask
questions when needed.
Best,
Fatimata
If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, perhaps a briefing for the WG, recorded for review by others, could:1) Go over the current state of affairs policy-wise - what's upcoming that needs work at present, what's upcoming soon;2) Go over the state of technical development - testing round, any outcomes from that, next steps, development of technical standards required (email, etc).3) Discuss the fast-track proposals, and the issues which have been brought up in relation to them.Would this suit the WG members, and help you Fatimata - obviously please do let me know if there is something else that would be more useful.--

Nick Ashton-Hart

I have accepted to be the IDN WG chair but I as a new ALAC member, I need time to learn and master all the related issues, which I am doing. Yesterday, I sent an email to Hong and Mohamed for advise and support. In French speaking countries, when a position is suddenly replaced, there is what we call "passation de service" from the former to the new chair for a smooth transition. If that is not the case here I will take any support from who ever among the ALAC community is able and willing to help.
Bret, this is to tell you that the only call for public comments I saw is about "Introduction of IDN ccTLD", open on December 19th to be closed on January 25th.
Thank you all and best,
