Proposal for the IGF 2019 in Berlin
Hi all. The EURALO Individual Users Association is preparing a proposal for the Global IGF - that follows a similar topic for discussion at SEEDIG and EuroDIG. We are a bit short of time, since the deadline is this coming Sunday, so there will not be much time to work on the text, but at least we might give a try. There are several groups that work currently on IDN and UA. My personal opinion is that the focus is still mainly on the technical aspects rather than on the user experience, and also that UA is not just a DNS matter but it involves other domains like, for instance, search engines. In simple words, what we would like to do, as Internet users, is to focus on the user experience in a global way. Subtopics can be search engines, multilingualism (and use of multiple scripts), elements that hinder the deployment of locally developed contents, and so on. Of course, we the overarching element is how the governance of the processes that aim at achieving Universal Acceptance. We will submit a draft for comments by this WG and discussion on how to proceed. Best regards, Roberto
That is great Roberto. Let us know if there is anything we could help on. Hi Roberto, Edmon Coincidentally, I had started the preparation of a proposal titled "Preparing for the Multilingual Internet: IDNs and UA" for the Berlin IGF. The policy questions to be addressed are: 1. What is the current state of IDNs & UA adoption worldwide? 2. What are the limitations of Internationalized Domain Names at the first and second levels (eg., variant management, transitional issues) and how may they be managed? 3. Where are the impediments in the adoption of Universal Acceptance? 4. What actions need to be taken by communities, Governments, businesses and IG organizations to address these? I was planning to add both of you as speakers. However, I will not continue with the proposal now, since Roberto is working on a similar one. satish On Fri, Apr 12, 2019 at 6:39 AM Edmon <edmon@isoc.hk> wrote:

Hi Satish I would think that it would be better if the proposal is presented by the ALAC IDN-WG. Is there any way we can merge the contents? I am busy now, but later tonight I will have some time to check out things - we still have 48h before the deadline 🙂🙂 Cheers, Roberto On 12.04.2019, at 03:47, Satish Babu <sb@inapp.com<mailto:sb@inapp.com>> wrote: Hi Roberto, Edmon Coincidentally, I had started the preparation of a proposal titled "Preparing for the Multilingual Internet: IDNs and UA" for the Berlin IGF. Hi Roberto Agree, it may make sense to do this from the IDN-WG. I'm writing to you separately with suggestions on merging the proposals. Is anyone from this WG likely to be at the Berlin IGF, and would like to be included as a speaker? Pls let us know (also note that you need to be registered on the IGF site as a resource person before your name can be added as a speaker). satish On Fri, Apr 12, 2019 at 11:12 PM Roberto Gaetano < roberto_gaetano@hotmail.com> wrote:
