Hi Milton, having just been nominated by the ALAC to the Coordination Grpup, I was late boarding the train on "naming the group". Your advice is to settle for CG "and not spend more time on this". But I want to take up your remark that "TFSI refer(s) to what we are supposed to facilitate, not to the group itself". I see this as an advantage: we would thus designate our target, rather than contemplate our navel. Jean-Jacques. Milton L Mueller <mueller@syr.edu> a écrit :
I think we're all getting way too cute with this. CG is fine. The list is already named that. Both TSIF and NXER refer to what we are supposed to facilitate but not to the group itself. Most everyone aware of us knows the context of the CG, so CG will do. Generally, I believe this is not something we should spend a lot more time on --MM

Something witty and catchy would be good - NXFER anyone?
I agree. That is pretty good.
I also liked TSIF.

All, having initiated the group naming debate I've put together a short list of suggestions, see attached. We should be able to finalize this in London. Wolf-Ulrich, OK I have resisted this far to add anything more to this discussion; but an excel spreadsheet makes it just too official. I hereby formally state that ICOBS was a *joke*. Apparently my reference to "Sunday afternoon humour" was not explicit enough. If you insist on a serious contribution from me, make it ICBG: IANA Consensus Building Group. In the long Internet governance tradition of four letter acronyms this one has not been used for anything prominent according to both my own memory and the search engines. The only real prominent use I could find has to do with biodiversity. This strikes me as a good pun considering the composition of our group. Now that my entry is in the hat, may I suggest that we focus on content and choose our name by lucky draw? <--- quite serious remark Bis die Tage Daniel
My first act of consensus building is to agree with the majority on the name.... Joe On 7/15/2014 3:01 PM, WUKnoben wrote:
