ICG FAQ: review in light of f2f meeting discussions ..
Dear All .. Please find attached a reviewed version of the FAQ reflecting the discussion during our face-to-face meeting in LA .. Until I double check with the transcripts, I hope the attached reflects everything accurately .. Apologies in advance for anything I may have overlooked .. This is not yet in dropbox as I would like to know how the file naming should be after we have already had a final version .. I have tried to conclude the exchange on the role of the Board in preparing the proposal .. The text in square brackets are 2 alternatives as suggested by Milton and Jean-Jacques .. 15. What is the role of the ICANN Board in preparing the proposal? The ICG is independent of the ICANN Board. The Board is represented on the ICG by one liaison. In addition, there is a liaison to the ICG from IANA. Both liaisons are there to provide information about the IANA functions and to keep the Board and ICG informed about the implications of the transition. Like any other member of the community, the ICANN Board can submit public comments to the ICG about the final proposal. Consistent with U.S. federal government procurement rules, the NTIA needs to have the final proposal submitted to it by the ICANN, [but the Board is not authorized to modify or approve the ICG's proposal.] or [Consistent with its charter, the ICG considers that in transmitting the Transition Plan to NTIA, the ICANN Board shall not modify the Plan itself.] When the ICG submits its final proposal to ICANN, it will also be released to the general public and to NTIA as well. Also I'm not sure whether we have concluded that the below should be a separate question or part of the above answer .. 17. How will the community see the final proposal submitted by the ICG? When the ICG submits its final proposal to ICANN, this will be released to the general public, and NTIA as well. Awaiting your feedback .. Safe travels to all who are still on their way like myself .. Kind Regards --Manal

Noted .. Thanks Patrik for catching this .. Apologies for the mistake .. On another note, I suggest that I post the versions I edit, reflecting the date, example: ICG-FAQ-17Oct14.doc ICG-FAQ-21Oct14.doc and that colleagues who wish to edit the document in track changes, use the latest and add their initials as we normally do, for example: ICG-FAQ-21Oct14-MI.doc Furthermore, since this is a living document, I also suggest that the Final version, in addition to having the word final in its name, also reflects the date of this version (to differentiate between the different final versions), for example .. ICG-FAQ-21Oct14-Final.doc Does this make sense? Open to alternative suggestions .. Also appreciate your views on whether or not we should highlight updated/new questions when posting to the web ..
