Dear IRT members,
I’m writing to highlight a few updates relevant to this Implementation Review Team as we continue working toward the August effective date for the
Registration Data Policy.
Thanks to Thomas Rickert for keeping the group updated on the GNSO Council’s discussion on the billing contact question surfaced in the IRT. Pending those outcomes, Dennis Chang will continue to keep the IRT up to date on the relevant
next steps.
Another topic still under discussion is the timeline for urgent requests for disclosure. As you may recall, the
EPDP Phase 1 Final Report provided that there should be a separate timeline for Urgent Requests, to be determined in implementation. No timeline for Urgent Requests is included in the Registration Data Policy, due to the ongoing discussions among the ICANN
Board, Governmental Advisory Committee, and GNSO Council.
The GNSO Council
wrote to ICANN org on 27 March noting that:
Following two productive trilateral discussions, the Council acknowledged and agreed with the GAC’s suggestion
that the discussion regarding the response time for urgent requests could continue within the EPDP - Temp Spec
Phase 1 Implementation Review Team. The Council confirmed this understanding during its
public meeting at
ICANN82 and encourages ICANN org to resume IRT meetings in the near term.
Accordingly, we will be scheduling some IRT meetings on this topic. I’ve asked Isabelle Colas-Adeshina to facilitate these discussions. Isabelle is a senior manager on my team, and has been supporting the Registration Data Policy work
with the IRT since Day 1. Look for a follow-up message from Isabelle shortly on these next steps.
We look forward to continuing to work with you on these. Please let us know if any questions.
Best regards,
Karen Lentz
