Data Processing Specification (DPS) Finalized; Service to Launch in January 2025
Dear Members of the IRT, We are pleased to inform you that following the Public Comment<https://www.icann.org/fr/public-comment/proceeding/data-processing-specifica...> proceeding on the draft Data Processing Specification (DPS), ICANN org and the Contracted Party House’s (CPH) negotiating team have agreed to final versions of registry and registrar specifications, thus fulfilling Rec 19 of the EPDP Phase 1 Final Report<https://gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/file/field-file-attach/epdp-gtld-...>. ICANN org staff reviewed all public comments that were received, and published a summary report<https://itp.cdn.icann.org/en/files/global-domains-division-gdd-operations/da...>, which includes analysis, on 14 October. Following publication, ICANN org consulted with the CPH Negotiating Team and together discussed whether modifications to the language were warranted. After review, it was determined that the draft specification contains relevant language to address the pertinent issues raised, including mechanisms for review, access to data, compliance with law, and more. We therefore intend to make the Data Processing Specification available to all ICANN accredited registrars and registries in the New Year, and will be sending communications to that effect following the ICANN holiday shutdown. We will inform the IRT when the notifications go out and the service is launched.
