Thank you for pointing out that in the case of the few Venezuelans who are in icann, the terms to apply for the visa in Mexico are practically impossible to comply with in comparison to the terms to apply for the U.S. visa.

In addition, in the case of obtaining a visa in Mexico, the times are exaggeratedly high, the airport does not allow you to enter just for being Venezuelan. The recent mistreatment of the Mexican authorities towards Venezuelans who enter legally is humiliating, I know this because some relatives emigrated before the issue of the visa for a delicate medical issue and were mistreated.

For this reason, I personally opted for the option of not applying for this meeting due to the limitations of the visa and the humiliating way in which Venezuelans are treated (this has been widely documented by human rights organizations).

I hope ICANN76 organizers address the issue of visas to avoid some of the mishaps of previous conferences.  Although members from most LACRALO states have no problem entering Mexico, I just learned that:

We hope that all ICANN75 in-person and remote participants had a successful meeting!

 

On behalf of Jonathan Zuck, ALAC Chair, we are seeking volunteers to join the ICANN76 At-Large Planning Committee. Ideally, one or two representatives from each region, to assist with the planning of the At-Large Leadership working sessions at ICANN76.

 

We will hold weekly calls if necessary (subject to the outcome of the Doodle) - with the first one planned in 2 weeks time.

 

Please confirm whether you are interested in volunteering by responding to Jonathan and myself, Gisella: staff@atlarge.icann.org.(please do NOT reply to all i.e the ALAC Announce mailing list) by Friday 14 October at 20:00 UTC. A Doodle will be sent out to the volunteers shortly after this deadline.
