I agree with Jacqueline --- many contributions from Carlton can be described as "intense", and his vocabulary and use of English are sometimes above the every-day standards of common usage -- but I have never seen anything from him that could reasonably be described as "offensive". On the contrary he is always scrupulously polite and almost formal even when diametrically disagreeing with a particular point of view.
