I agree that shall be limits or we will fall into a very “dark” situation. Leaving in a country where everyone shall be identified – the constitution says anonymity is forbidden, I guess our country will be allied with US regarding GDPR

But the quote does say that GDPR should be followed, but that the US does not want to see everything going dark because that is the easiest thing to do. I support that!
