On behalf of Jonathan Zuck, this message is to announce the start of the 2025 LACRALO Elections, Selections and Appointment process.  Full details are available on the (2025 LACRALO Regional Selections) wiki page. 

LACRALO has 4 (four) positions open this year for RALO selection/election: 

1) ALAC Member - Region C (Caribbean Islands)

2) LACRALO Chair Elect – Region D (Mercosur)

3) LACRALO Secretary Elect – Region B (Andes)

4) ALAC NomCom Delegate to the NomCom from LACRALO- Region C (Caribbean Islands)

Please note the important points regarding the process of nominations: 

According to LACRALO Operating Principles, LACRALO members who wish to be nominated to Leadership positions shall comply with the following requirements:

1.   Regional rotation: Confirm that you are a member of an ALS from the country corresponding to the position to which you are applying. Only organizations that have been formally accredited to LACRALO (ALS) can participate in the election as nominators or nominees to hold positions, “observer” members of LACRALO are excluded from being able to nominate, be nominated and to vote.

2.   Complete the LACRALO Conflicts of Interest form

3.   All nominees are expected to submit a brief statement explaining Expression of Interest  (word or PDF file) explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate for the position to At-Large staff.  All nominees must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace)

4. Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made directly to the LACRALO mailing list (lac-discuss-en@atlarge-lists.icann.org) with the subject line: LACRALO ELECTIONS NOMINATION 2025 , and by sending a note to At-Large staff who will note the nomination on the 2025 ALAC and RALO Elections, Selections and Appointments Workspace [icann-community.atlassian.net]

LACRALO Selection Timetable for 2025:

• 14 April 2025 - Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement.*
• 14 April - 25 April 2025 - Nomination period (nominations accepted for 10 working days). 
• 2 May 2025 - Deadline for nomination acceptances. Candidate statements should be submitted no later than 5 May 2025.
• 5 May 2025 - 8 May 2025- Calls with the candidates if desired by the RALOs. 
• 9 May 2025 - 16 May 2025 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after that deadline). 
• 2025 AGM [ ICANN84] - Newly elected ALAC Members and RALOs Leaders shall be seated at the end of the 2025 AGM following the close of the Board Meeting on 30 October 2025.

• No one who is currently serving on the Nominating Committee may be nominated for the ALAC. See: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/governance/bylaws-en#VII-8
• Nomcom delegates ending their terms in 2024 and 2025 are ineligible this year. See Nomcom Transition Section 27.5 Nomcom Delegate Terms [icann-community.atlassian.net]: “No person who served on either or both of the Nominating Committees with terms ending at the ICANN Annual General Meeting in 2024 or 2025 shall be eligible for appointment to this term.
