On behalf of Maureen Hilyard, Chair of the ALAC, we would like to announce the 2020 call for nominations for the open position of ALAC Member from LACRALO.

Please refer to the 2020 LACRALO ALAC Member Election Workspace for important information.

Sub-Region:

According to the LACRALO Operating principles and the draft Rules of Procedures, the ALAC member must be from the Caribbean (Sub-Region C: Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Saint Vincent and The Grenadines, St.Lucia, Saint Kitts&Nevis, Suriname & Trinidad &Tobago).

Term:

• ALAC: The term for the ALAC Member will run from the end of the 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) to the end of the 2022 AGM.

Selection Timetable: 

• 13 July 2020 - Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement/ 13 Julio 2020 – Anuncio de llamada a nominación y declaraciones de interés de Nominados /13 Julio.
• 13 July – 24 July 2020 - Nomination period (nominations accepted for 10 working days). – Periodo de Nominaciones (aceptadas por 10 días laborables)
• 31 July 2020 - Deadline for nomination acceptances – Fecha límite de aceptación de nominaciones
• 3 August - 7 August 2020- Call with the candidates if desired by the RALO.- LLamada con candidatos si deseado
• 10 August – 14 August 2020 - Elections (If required, elections will begin no later than one week after the deadline for nomination acceptances and end no later than two weeks after that deadline). E;ecciones /Si es requerido, elecciones empezaran a más tardar una semana después de la fecha límite para aceptación de nominaciones y terminar a más tardar dos semanas después de dicha fecha límite).
• 2020 AGM [ ICANN69 ] - Newly elected ALAC Members and RALOs Leaders shall be seated at the end of the 2020 AGM following the close of the Board Meeting on 22 October 2020.

 Process for Nominations: 

According to LACRALO Operating Principles, LACRALO members who wish to be nominated to Leadership positions shall comply with the following requirements:

1.   Regional rotation: Confirm that you are a member of an ALS from the country corresponding to the position to which you are applying. Only organizations that have been formally accredited to LACRALO (ALS) can participate in the election as nominators or nominees to hold positions, “observer” members of LACRALO are excluded from being able to nominate, be nominated and to vote.

2.    Complete the CONFLICT OF INTEREST ONLINE FORM

3.   All nominees are expected to submit a brief  Expression of Interest  statement (Word or PDF file) explaining why they believe they are a suitable candidate for the position to At-Large staff.  All nominees must also complete or update their Statement of Interest (see: At-Large New SOIs Workspace).

4.   Nominations, including self-nominations must be made directly to the LACRALO mailing list with the subject line: LACRALO ALAC MEMBER NOMINATION 2020, posted to the  2020 LACRALO ALAC Member Election Workspace, as well as by sending a note to At-Large staff.
