Dear Andres, Perhaps you are missing the point a bit, I am not questioning your leadership or your encouragement of collaborative dialogue. The fact that we can have this discussion is a celebration of my acknowledgement of your apt leadership and fair views. Also, the aim was not that there be a directed vote. But despite there being no directed vote and no real obligation forced upon LACRALO representatives to vote for our preference, by your position in principle you should consider and give weight to our perspective. Please understand the flaw is not personal, but in the process to ensure that LACRALO is truly representative. If LACRALO has representatives-- then certainly these representatives should act and try to encapsulate these two perspectives as best as possible, instead of just one perspective. We are not asking for favouritism, but rather the balance that you acknowledge should exist in LACRALO! The other ALSes have made their decision on criteria that we do not accept (and some have chosen not to read the documentation before them), our aim is to highlight that there are two diverging opinions on the list as to who should be the best candidate. We feel that Alan is the better candidate to represent us at the Board level because of his detailed responses, his vast knowledge of the issues and versatility. I cherish the fact that there is often disagreement in LACRALO, because in thrashing out ideas we are able to become stronger and more knowledgeable. However, it is the underlying duty of LACRALO's representatives to ensure that where there is no consensus, all sides are represented as best as possible. I do feel like the Caribbean ALSes are at times ignored and sidelined, and it is disheartening to continue to contribute to topics and the list when this occurs. Fortunately, we do have the second voting round before us and it falls squarely on your shoulders to ensure that this balance is actually upheld and that our inclusion and perspective are recognised. To do otherwise would only add insult to injury and strengthen the perception that the list is not inclusionary of all LACRALO. Dear All,
I am quite confused now but the statements made at the list, mostly by Caribbean ALSs. I have been asked to:
a) Promote a change and split 2 - 1 the votes. a) Reconsider my vote. The main arguments this weeekend were political, and regarding how unhappy "the Caribbean is".
Both positions make me thing that, maybe, we are still thinking in some sort of "Directed Vote Mode". First were many South American ALS that seem to be thinking as if the process was a "Directed Vote", and now Caribbean ones seems to be (correct me, please, if I am wrong) in the same page.
Since LACRALO's very begenning, I have been voting, seconding, sharing points of views, etc, with Caribbean ALSs (or individually with Carlton, Dev, etc) sometimes more that with Latin ALSs, or even with Argentinean delegates. It seems to be a little childish -for the ones that were following LACRALO's process specially since 2009- to think that I have some influence in the 2 other votes.
We are far far away to be a "team that votes alltogether", and this is publicly known.
Is someone in position to ask me to say "Carlos, please, we are 3 voting the same candidate, please vote one different so we can get balanced"?. I don't feel that I can do that.
I was expecting this weekend to get deeper in the discussion. The only extra contribution was received by me yesterday, from Alan Greemberg himself. Nothing has changed so much, except for my confusion.
I will try to wait a little more, before casting my vote.
Regards,
Andrés

Querido Todos,
