[lac-discuss-es] restricción del nombre de dominio de primer nivel punto-internal
[[-- Translated text (es -> en) --]] Colleagues, As you are probably all aware, ICANN has just announced the resolution allowing the use of the top-level domain name point-internal only for internal use on networks and prevents it for use public. The news is already public in https://www.theregister.com/2024/08/08/dot_internal_ratified. Who of our representatives participated in the corresponding PDP for who can inform us what was discussed in terms of multilingualism, universal acceptance, and other impacts for the regions of Latin America and from the Caribbean? It should be noted that although the representations of the Caribbean, in a way argued and justified, they have indicated that IDNs are not of interest to that region, this point-internal name transcends borders linguistics as it is identifiable with the English language, dominant in the region as are other strong analogies with North America. Of all forms it would be convenient to review this hypothesis, in addition, given the presence of Francophone communities and those of other linguistic origins that do use diacritics in the Latin alphabet just as there could be use cases for email addresses like the ones Sandra recently shared Rodriguez. Given the timing of these developments, it is plausible to assume that they were carried out before attention was taken up by access to resources derived from the "How We Gather" document, so it is valid to assume also that someone in the community was paying attention and participating. For your attention thanks.
