candidates to raise Icann
[[--Translated text (es -> en)--]] Subject: candidates to raise Icann From: sylvia@internautabrasil.org reenvio of my previous message, excuses but it sends it to the list of ingles without wanting. sylvia Dear LACRALO companions: If we thought from the point of view of the users, without doubts thatthe best one candidate is Sebastien.
From my personal experience and even before being the representative of LACRALO, I have seen the comprometimiento and the great force of work that it has Sebastien. The users always jeopardize com and always defending his position. If we thought from the point of view of the ALSs, without doubts that the best one candidate is also Sebastien. It was one of the idealizadores of the Summit AT-LARGE, when sugirio idea command post meeting of Paris. Command post summint of Mexico I had the opportunity to work to its side like vice-president of WG2, and I can assure to them that it is always thinking command post the users of Internet and command post the organizations who represent them. If we thought from the point of view of which we want to be oidos by the Board, without our work falls in vacio, the best candidate is Sebastien Bachollet. Greetings, Sylvia

I notice this drift to see the world as we would wish as opposed to seeing the world as it is. And an abysmal misunderstanding how corporate Boards actually work. Some basic facts: The ICANN Board conducts its business in English. Board papers are done in English and so far as I know, the discussions tend to be in English. As such, English proficiency, especially in conversational English, is the pre-eminent language skill required for effective board work. The At-Large wants a Board member who can talk TO the Board and argue from an At-Large perspective IN the Board meetings. We are not sending a member to the Board to stroke us! And if you need to wait to take the temperature of the At-Large - not just LACRALO but the entire At-Large! - before you feel 'our' Board member is empowered to make an argument in favour of the At-Large perspective, I say this with respect for all my colleagues, 'our' Board member will soon be irrelevant to Board activities. Hi, Well that is at least one qualification that all three of your candidates do seem to have. a. On 24 Nov 2010, at 12:22, SAMUELS,Carlton A wrote:

Absolutely! Maybe it was too fine a point but suggestions were made that multilingual disability - not speaking Spanish or French - could be a [subtle] disqualifier for Board work. No, it would not. ...if the facts about Board processes matter, that assertion is, well, counterintuitive.
