Hi everyone I scoured the RoP and have not found any rule that says that the process must be restarted, per this email. I also have not found precedent in the only other case that exactly matches this one, i.e. 2008. Can you advise from where in the Rules was this "way forward" derived? I would think that we must be very careful to follow the rules as laid out, and not go off track, else the process will lose all legitimacy and could be seen as a totalitarian attack on the democratic and transparent tradition of the At-Large. Yes, agreed. It seems that two people are making up rules as they go along, without any mandate from membership. Might I remind the Chair and Secretariat that they have no executive powers and all such decisions must be made by the membership and not imposed by two or three people who insist on calling themselves President and Secretary when the rules call for a Chairman and Secretariat. Yes, I hope he finally gets through, but I still believe the process needs to be fixed to fit in with the RoP and the Operating Principles as well as proper precedent. Maybe we need to have the precedents collated and indexed, so we have something more of an institutional memory, besides the few of us here from the beginning and the ones who actually worked on the documents and attended the startup meetings. I also have not found precedent in the only other case that exactly matches this one, i.e. 2008. Can you advise from where in the Rules was this "way forward" derived? In advance of the results of the current poll on whether or not Lance Hinds should be confirmed as the 2015-2017 ALAC Representative from LACRALO, we would like to set out the methodology to be used in determining the results.
If a majority (more than 50%) of people responding to the poll, NOT counting abstentions, have indicated NO, then the selection process for the ALAC seat currently occupied by Fatima Cambronero will be restarted with a new call for nominations.
Otherwise, the appointment of Lance Hinds as LACRALO ALAC Member for 2015-2017 is confirmed.

Si una mayoría (mas del 50%) de las personas que respondieron a la encuesta, SIN contar las abstenciones, indicaron NO, entonces el proceso de selección para el asiento en ALAC, actualmente ocupado por Fatima Cambronero será reiniciado a través de una nueva convocatoria.
De lo contrario, la nominación de Lance para ALAC para el periodo 2015-2017 será confirmada.
