el asunto de este mensaje es del tipo que produce sorpresas a largo plazo: la protección de nombres de organizaciones internacionales (gubernamentales o no) en nuevos gTLDs.

Reflexionemos sobre nuestro espacio latinoamericano; más allá de la OEA (y sus siglas en inglés OAS) hay decenas de organizaciones cuyos nombres, variantes y siglas pueden entrar en colisión con usos legítimos de las mismas "cuerdas" al interior de nuestros países. Las colisiones de nombres pueden volverse frecuentes y complicadas; evitarlas a través de una protección excesiva también puede tener consecuencias difíciles de manejar.

Tengamos en cuenta que las siglas de muchos organismos internacionales coinciden con las de organizaciones nacionales en diversos países. Recientemente he sido consultado por casos de este tipo que se vuelven un quebradero de cabeza.

¿Podemos tener esa discusión y orientar el voto de nuestros representantes? ¿qué opinan otros miembros de LACRALO, o los miembros de sus organizaciones, a este respecto? ¿los están consultando?
