Dear Colleagues / chers collèges (Français plus bas)

EN:  As shared with you earlier, ICANN is currently working on developing label generation rules in various scripts supporting local languages for the top-level of the Internet’s Domain Name System (DNS).  There are multiple script based panels currently active[icann.org].   

 

The Latin Panel is also researching to supporting languages using the script from Africa.  In this context, the Latin Panel has found that Khoekhoe language, spoken in parts of South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, has the following letters.  The panel requests feedback on how actively these letters are used today in publishing in print or online and whether these letters are taught in schools (see https://www.omniglot.com/writing/khoekhoe.htm[omniglot.com]):

FR : Comme vous le savez, ICANN est en train de travailler sur les règles de définition des étiquettes à utiliser pour les noms de domaines de premier niveau pour différents scripts sur lesquels sont basés les langues locales.  Plusieurs panels sont actuellement actifs

 

 Le panel Latin fait des recherches au profit des langues africaines utilisant le script latin.   Dans ce cadre, il a remarqué que la langue Khoekhoe parlée en Afrique du Sud, au Botswana et en Namibie comporte des lettres mentionnées  à la fin de ce message.   Le panel souhaite avoir vos points de vue concernant l’utilisation de ces lettres aujourd’hui dans les publications imprimées ou en ligne et aussi si elles sont enseignées dans les écoles.
