Overview

This file contains Label Generation Rules (LGR) for the Latin script as would be appropriate for the Root zone. The format of this file follows [RFC 7940].

Repertoire

According to Section 5, "Repertoire" in [Proposal], the Latin LGR contains 221 unique code points.

The repertoire is based on [MSR-2], which is a subset of Unicode 6.3 [Unicode 6.3].

Each code-point has associated Glyph, Character Name, Unicode General Category (gc), EGIDS status, Indic Syllabic Category and Reference.

Background on Script and Principal Languages Using It

The Latin script is a major writing system of the world today, and the most widely used in terms of number of languages and number of speakers, with circa 70% of the world’s readers and writers making use of this script. The list of languages taken into consideration contains relevant data for 455 languages using Latin script. More details in Section "3 Background on Script and Principal Languages Using It" of the [Proposal].
