Dear colleagues,
Regarding U+03B7 η,
U+0063 n, a review of our evaluation reveals that this particular pair is one of those where we merely had two members of the team evaluate them as potential variants. It occurs to me that we have a number of variants where 5 of 7 members found the pair variant, while 2 did not. It thus seems at least possible that, due to the chance which assigned the particular pair of team members to the evaluation, the 2 who made the preliminary evaluation would have been the only ones finding the pair not variant. In which case, we might have reached the same conclusion as the Greek panel.
I wonder if we might not wish to do a full panel evaluation before approaching the Greek panel for a meeting. It may be we will discover that we actually agree with them. At minimum, we can know whether our decision against these being variants was narrow or unanimous.
