Thank you Nadira, your suggestion is well-noted and just to highlight that am summarising the comments to share to the SC.

Dear Ines,
Thank you for your update,
However I don't see one year term for MEAC-SWG or MEAC-SIG alumni EC members is suitable from my side.
It doesn't leave to those members a critical eye on the process they are put in. So every time a new EC member is allocated they will need time to figure out what is going around them.
Best wishes
Nadira

Hi Nadira

Thanks a lot for your email. To answer your question from a secretariat stand-point:

Documentation: We will upload the documentation to answer your questions on our website meacsig.org under the 'About' section.

Concerning the SC:
  • SC members sit for a 1-year term where there term ends with the end of the annual SIG (MEAC-SIG 2019 for this call)
  • Their duties include vetting application forms and sharing feedback on the agenda. They also have to promote the SIG amongst their networks and encourage relevant people to apply
  • Being an SC member does not entitle one to be funded to attend MEAC-SIG. SC members are welcome to attend a SIG using other means of funding
Concerning the curriculum, you might want a more detailed answer from IGP's Farzaneh but until then, it s worth-mentioning that curriculum design is IGP's task but the final outcome is done in consultation with the SC, also opening a call for SC members from the community is our attempt to hear from about current and relevant issues to our region.

I hope this answers your questions.

Dear Ines,
Dear MEAC-SIG Organizers,

Thank you for your email,
I appreciate if you can provide us with more information about the charter of the MEAC-SIG steering committee.
There is no information on what are the task of this steering committee. Knowing from previous years it is formed by representative of the organisers, the host and the addition of 2 members from the MEAC-SIG alumni and MEAC-SWG. Is there a limit of how many years each member could sit in the steering committee?

Is there an approach on how the steering group sets the MEAC-SIG curriculum for that year? Is it top down decision or does it soloist issues from the community on current need? Does it give space to the community to present case studies of relevance to the current issues?

If there is no charter, it is worth putting one, before running the new curriculum if it is not already in place.
Best regards,
Nadira
