Re: [GSE Middle East] [MEAC ICANN] GNSO Policy Development Process - One Day Training Workshop
Hello, I would like to submit my Statement of Interest (SoI) for this one-day training workshop on Policy Development Process (PDP). My full name is Amir Qayyum, and my email ID is qayyum@gmail.com. My engagement in ICANN started in 2012, with ICANN 45 meeting in Toronto, as a fellow. Since then I tried my best to get involved with ICANN activities, through various constituencies. I attended five ICANN meetings as a fellow and then as a coach. I participated in APRALO activities, as I am the contact person for the ALS, registered with APRALO. From 2015 to 2017, I also worked as a member of ICANN Nominating Committee, representing ALAC-APRALO. This helped me a lot to understand the strategic level ICANN objectives and requirements. Recently, based on my technical background and expertise, I became a member of RSSAC Caucus. And then I was also selected few months back to represent RSSAC in the fellowship selection committee. In 2017, I had a number of discussions with Milton Muller, Farzaneh and Tatiana. Consequently, in end-2017, I became the member of NCUC, and then I started working in this new constituency. However, I do not have the required experience of Policy Development Process, without which it seems difficult to enhance my involvement in NCUS. Therefore, although I was engaged in various ICANN constituencies, but I was seriously looking for opportunities to enhance my skills in PDP, in order to elevate my engagement in ICANN. In this regard, I am willing to commit time and effort, so that I can be more actively engaged in ICANN GNSO PDP(s). I am very much interested to attend this one-day training workshop because it seems to me as a great opportunity to learn about ICANN GNSO PDP and how it works. Although I know something about the gTLDs, but I think that this course will help me to better understand about the key ICANN gTLD-related policy issues which are currently under discussion. After attending this workshop, I am hopeful that I will learn how I can actively engage in ICANN GNSO policy development work. I am ready to prepare myself in advance, for this training course. Therefore, I hope that I will be given the opportunity to attend this training workshop. I have already taken part in ICANN-related work and I am looking forward to further develop my skills in policy making, through this training. After attending this training, I assure to become more involved in ICANN Policy Development Process (PDP).
