Thanks, Zakir.
The survey did not ask the question on which ccTLD permits IDN registrations under its ASCII TLD. The focus of surveying both ccTLDs and IDN ccTLDs was to check their support of UA irrespective of whether they support IDNs or not.
Furthermore, we did not want to use the survey as a tool to specifically name ccTLDs and give any judgement value about what they are doing and not doing.
I hope this helps.
Fahd

Thanks for your question, Zakir.
Are you referring to Unicode.ASCIITLD domain name registrations; i.e. ذاكر.pk?

Thank you Fahd, very useful report at a time when UA Day is being celebrated world over. The report does not, however, show as to which cctlds support IDNs. For example, which cctlds in our region support IDN’s, and which ones do not. Or did i just miss something in the report?
Best,
Zakir

Dear All,
For those interested in understanding the UA-readiness of TLD registries, domain name registrars, and ccTLDs, this blog may be of interest to you >> https://go.icann.org/42J20RU [go.icann.org].
Some of the key findings in the report include:
- 84% of responding registry operators and registrars are UA-ready or partially UA-ready
- 100% of responding registry service providers are UA-ready or partially UA-ready
- Their primary motivations for becoming UA-ready are to grow their customer base (70 percent) and be more competitive (65 percent).
- 69% of the ccTLD managers who responded to the survey are UA-ready or partially UA-ready
- More than a third (35%) of ccTLD managers are actively promoting UA updates via local events, including collaborating with other ccTLDs via regional and global platforms, and more than half (59%) said they are aware of the technical resources available from ICANN
- Nearly a third (31%) include UA-readiness in their roadmap; and 50% of those plan to start working on UA-readiness within the next 12 months.
The same blog points to two reports as follows:
- Universal Acceptance (UA) Readiness Survey Report – Contracted Parties and Registry Service Providers
- Universal Acceptance (UA) Readiness Survey Report – ccTLDs
Happy reading!
Thank you,
Fahd Batayneh
