Root Zone Label Generation Rules (RZ-LGR) define a conservative mechanism to determine valid Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) top-level domains
(TLDs) and their variant labels. The successful development of RZ-LGR depends on having community-based Generation Panels (GPs) develop proposals for their script.
The Myanmar Script GP has finalized the proposal for Myanmar Script RZ-LGR. The proposal is being published for Public Comment before being finalized. The proposal will be finalized based on community input and submitted to the Integration Panel for review
and possible integration into the next version of RZ-LGR.
Please review and provide your comments regarding the code point repertoire, variant code point definitions, and the rules proposed in the proposal.
The GP members are representatives from each of the communities that use a particular script or writing system. The role of a GP is to identify valid characters, variant code points, and Whole Label Evaluation (WLE) rules for the given script or writing system.
Each GP starts by considering the code points for the relevant script that are present in the Maximal Starting Repertoire (MSR) and develops an LGR proposal
to generate top-level domain (TLD) labels for that script. In doing so, the GP may need to coordinate efforts with other GPs for the scripts which are closely related. Script LGR proposals are reviewed by the community through a Public Comment proceeding and
then by an expert Integration Panel for approval and integration into the next version of RZ-LGR. The details of this process are defined in
the LGR procedure.
Currently, LGRs for the following 18 scripts have been completed and integrated into the fourth version of RZ-LGR: Arabic, Bangla, Chinese, Devanagari,
Ethiopic, Georgian, Gujarati, Gurmukhi, Hebrew, Kannada, Khmer, Lao, Malayalam, Oriya, Sinhala, Tamil, Telugu, and Thai. Multiple script proposals have also been completed and are waiting to be integrated including Armenian, Cyrillic, Japanese, and Korean.
In addition, Greek and Latin GPs are finalizing their LGR proposals following the Public Comment proceedings.
Following the Public Comment period, the Myanmar Script GP will make any necessary changes to the proposal based on the community feedback. The GP will then submit the final proposal for evaluation to the Integration Panel. If the proposal is successfully evaluated,
it will be integrated into the next version of the RZ-LGR. If not, the proposal will be sent back to the Myanmar Script GP with comments for
further consideration and revision.
This additional information from ICANN org provides more context for this Public Comment Proceeding and may help you review the proposals for input and publish a submission.
