HI Evan,
The extension of the Term Limits was hotly debated over several sessions of the group working on the revised rules. Some parties wanted to extend the term to 4 terms, while others wanted a smaller to keep it as is. There was a compromise forged on 3 terms, up from 2. Numerous reasons were discussed, but the primary issue was 1) IF NA wanted to have an ALAC Chair, we need at least 3 terms to make that happen. 2) Some work could not be completed in 2 terms, but could be done in 3 terms. We wanted term limits for newcomers, but we also wanted to keep people who were very effective for one more term, for a total of 3 terms. So this was the compromise so that we can get all the benefits of the 2 issues I flagged. I am doing this by memory and hope I did not get it wrong.
Other changes were to have the rules be in compliance with the
ALS and Individual rules that were adopted in the past years, and
we needed to make them align with the NARALO Rules of Operations
Hope it was helpful
Best,
Judith

It would be helpful if you could be more specific.
Given that the vote deadline is two days away, this is absolutely the wrong time to debate detail and nuance since the only outcome that matters right now is a binary yes/no on ratification.
And I still haven't heard a defence of term and term-limit extensions or the power-grab in 5.7. Or why to have the comment period in the heart of North America's vacation season when no rush was necessary.
