ICANN73 to be Virtual Community Forum
ICANN announced that ICANN73 will convene as a Virtual Community Forum due to the continuing impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The health and safety of the ICANN community and staff is always a top priority, and as such, holding ICANN73 as an in-person or hybrid meeting would not be feasible by its scheduled date.

ICANN72 Participation Metrics
ICANN org Vice President of Global Meeting Operations, Nick Tomasso, provides a preview of the ICANN72 Virtual Annual General Meeting stats. A total of 1,305 attendees from 156 countries and territories joined the virtual meeting in real time.

The ICANN Board published its FY21 Annual Report for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2021. This report documents highlights of the Board, community, and org activities for the year.

Successful Candidates Announced for ICANN73 Fellowship
ICANN org announced the list of successful candidates selected to participate in the ICANN Fellowship Program at the ICANN73 Community Forum. A total of 39 fellows from 27 countries will take part in the ICANN Public Meeting from 5-10 March 2022.

ICANN Board Chair Maarten Botterman reviews the ICANN Board Operational Priorities for fiscal year 2022. Each fiscal year, the Board reviews its Operational Priorities, assesses their progress against set goals, and considers whether the Board sees opportunities to update or include new Operational Priorities.

DNS Security Facilitation Initiative Technical Study Group Delivers Final Report
Domain Name System Security Facilitation Initiative Technical Study Group (DSFI-TSG) delivered its Final Report. The TSG was established by the ICANN President and CEO in May 2020 to investigate mechanisms to strengthen collaboration and communication on security and stability issues related to the Domain Name System (DNS).

Informational Session on DNS Abuse: Panel Discussion with the ICANN Board
On 22 October, the ICANN Board held a panel discussion on Domain Name System (DNS) abuse. The panel discussed the defining characteristics of DNS abuse as well as what organizations are doing to address DNS abuse.
