The position was created at the same time as Allen Grogan was appointed to the role of Chief Contract Compliance Officer in October 2014 (a position he has just announced he will be leaving). For whatever reasons, it was never filled. Although we have asked before, this is the first time we have had an opportunity to comment on the actual description. We had been asked to suggest aspects that should be included in it earlier, but I don't believe that anyone took them up on that.

I am confused by your reference to "the ALS". Do you mean the ALAC?

I like a consumer trust position. But this doesn't say anything about who the person reports to, and the openness of the positions activities. E.G., I'd hope we would be able to see if this is focused on assuaging the concerns of the pharmaceutical or film industries and not name sale abuses by registries or registrars.

But I have a question about the origin of this position. Is this something ALS requested? Did this arise from a staff initiative that is thought to respond to needs expressed by the ALS? Or otherwise? Did the ALS have an opportunity to set the scope of this position?
